On October 13, 2020, the Idaho Transportation Department implemented a new title and registration system that will make an automatic NMVTIS vehicle history inquiry with every title transaction. If the NMVTIS report reveals that a vehicle was reported as “crushed,” “scrapped,” “junked,” or “parts only” by a junkyard or automobile recycler, the ITD may not issue a title to the vehicle. Read the Idaho statute.
Before acquiring any vehicle, dealers should verify the vehicle’s history by obtaining their own NMVTIS report. By seeing the same record that the Idaho Transportation Department will see, dealers can determine whether to purchase a vehicle at auction, accept a trade-in, or adjust the value of the vehicle accordingly.
Auto Data Direct (ADD) is an approved NMVTIS Data Provider and is trusted by businesses to provide millions of records each year.
