ELT will be mandatory for Buy-Here Pay-Here dealers, finance companies, or any business that finances vehicles, vessels or mobile homes.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Nov. 14, 2012 – Auto Data Direct, Inc. (ADD) today announced it will donate a portion of the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) reporting fees for vehicles damaged by Hurricane Sandy to the Brother’s Brother Foundation (BBF) relief effort. Federal law requires insurance companies and auto salvage entities to report total loss and salvage vehicles to a national database, where the information is available to the public.

After July 1, 2012, all California dealers must pull a NMVTIS report for each used car sold at retail. Dealers are not required to run a NMVTIS report for vehicles that are intended for wholesale.

(ADD) today announced that more than 1,000 independent California automobile dealers are using its simple and affordable web-based system to comply with a new law. As of July 1, 2012, all California dealers who sell used cars are required to obtain a National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) vehicle history report for every used car on their lot, and post a red warning label on the vehicle if a title brand or salvage history is found.
