ADD Announces Bilingual NMVTIS Vehicle History Reports
for Auto DealersAuto Data Direct, Inc. (ADD), a leader in automotive data services and National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) vehicle history reports announces that it has added bilingual vehicle history reports to its array of products. NMVTIS reports, containing DMV title data, salvage information and total loss reports, are federal vehicle histories designed to protect consumers from fraud and unsafe vehicles. By offering the report in both English and Spanish, ADD’s newest product is just in time for dealers looking to comply with California’s new vehicle history requirement, which goes into effect July 1, 2012. Under the new law, California dealers must pull a NMVTIS vehicle history for each used vehicle offered for retail sale, and if the report indicates a junk or salvage history, the dealer must apply a red warning label to the vehicle. Additionally, the dealer must provide a copy of the NMVTIS report to the buyer at the time of sale, if requested.

While the new California law is aimed at protecting consumers from purchasing less than desirable vehicles without full disclosure, pulling a vehicle history from the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) is a smart thing to do for all dealers – not just those in California.
