Florida ELT Deadline Approaches

for Auto Dealers and Financial on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 by Mike Samaan

The Florida DHSMV has issued an advisory regarding the upcoming requirement for any business that finances vehicles, vessels or mobile homes to electronically transmit liens and lien satisfactions to the department. [Read the DHSMV Advisory.

Electronic reporting of lien information will be mandatory on January 1, 2013. Lenders must select an ELT service provider and submit an Application and Notice of Interest in the Electronic Lien and Title Process (HSMV 82150) to that provider in order to be able access the Florida ELT system.

ADD is an approved ELT provider, and ELT services are available through your existing ADD account.

Due to the large number of ELT applications that the DHSMV will be required to process, lenders are advised to complete the necessary paperwork as soon as possible. Any lender who has not contracted with a service provider and completed the HSMV82150 before January 1, 2013 risks rejection of its lien recording requests and title applications after that date.

Download the application forms from the ADD website at www.add123.com/elt, read our ELT FAQs or call 855-300-3455 for more information.
