Dealer Services Presents: Florida ELT

for Auto Dealers, Financial and Repossession Agency on Friday, June 15, 2018 by Joe Kalicki

The Electronic Lien and Title (ELT) system is an easy-to-use, web-based platform that allows dealers and finance companies to process lien notifications and releases electronically.

ADD’s Dealer Services team has answered your most frequently asked questions about the ELT process:

I’m trying to add myself as a lienholder as part of my EFS (metal plate)

transaction, why is my dealership not showing up in the results?

Only dealerships and lienholders with a Florida ELT number will show up under the lienholder search in the EFS system. To record liens electronically, you must apply for an ELT number by submitting the state form that is available through our website.

Any individual or company recording 5 or more liens per year must apply. Once the application has been accepted you will be assigned an ELT number that you can provide on forms or to anyone needing to record you as a lienholder.

I received a LienLock notification email regarding one of my liens, what

does this mean?

A LienLock notification email may be sent to the account’s contact user email when a vehicle that you have a lien on was reported stolen, offered for sale on eBay, or intended for export.

To view the details of the LienLock notification, simply log into your account and select ELT from your Apps. The LienLock notification will provide information such as the date the vehicle was reported stolen and if it was recovered. This system allows you to receive early warnings of potential issues with your liens.

Why can’t I see my lien in my ELT manifest?

It can take several business days for the lien to show as recorded with the Florida DMV after paperwork has been submitted.

If EFS is being used to perform the title and registration transaction and the transaction has the status of “Pending Dealer Transaction” then the lien will not be recorded and imported until the EFS transaction is fully processed and all paperwork is accepted.

I keep getting an error that reads “There are a [number of] liens that are

not showing in your manifest. They are scheduled to be imported in the next batch.” What does this mean?

Another common issue surrounding “missing” ELT transactions is that your Auto Data Direct account has insufficient funds to cover the import of the liens to your account. If this is the case, simply add the appropriate amount of credit to your account. The remaining liens will become available in your manifest the following day.
