New State Inquiries Available for 2011

on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 by Chris Senkovich

ADD is pleased to announce the addition of nine new states for motor vehicle inquiries. These new state records are available to _qualified entities_. To begin an inquiry in one of the new states, start under the New Query tab and simply click the state dropdown box to see a list of states in which your company qualifies for access. Companies who do not currently have motor vehicle inquiry access and meet both the DPPA and individual state requirements can gain access logging in to your ADD account, clicking the New Query tab and following the on-screen prompts. The state inquiry fees vary depending on the state charges, and many states charge for incorrect entries or records not found, so it is important to verify the VIN or tag number before submitting a query.

Available January 3, 2011:

Alabama$4.50 (lien holder information only)
Idaho$19.50
Kansas$10.00
Maine$12.50
Montana$7.50
Nebraska$3.50
New Mexico$9.00
South Carolina$15.00
Tennessee$4.25

When available, ADD will automatically include the record from the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) with the state record (this feature is currently only available for these new states).

A new Terms of Use for access to the state motor vehicle databases will be required prior to obtaining motor vehicle records. Personal information (including, but not limited to: name, address, date of birth, DL number) appearing on driver and vehicle records is protected by the Federal Driver Privacy Protection Act (DPPA). The use of personal information for reasons not allowed by the DPPA will result in loss of information access privileges and may result in civil or criminal liability.
