TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Nov. 14, 2012 – Auto Data Direct, Inc. (ADD) today announced it will donate a portion of the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) reporting fees for vehicles damaged by Hurricane Sandy to the Brother’s Brother Foundation (BBF) relief effort.

Federal law requires insurance companies and auto salvage entities to report total loss and salvage vehicles to a national database, where the information is available to the public. In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, ADD is expecting a sharp increase in the number of salvage vehicles that will fall under the reporting requirements.

“Our goal is two-fold,” said Jim Taylor, ADD President. “We want to encourage the salvage and insurance industries to comply with federal law, and we also want to help the victims of that storm by contributing a portion of the reporting fees to BBF, an organization that has already proven effective in helping people in the northeast who are trying to recover from the disaster.”

ADD is a U.S. Department of Justice-approved data consolidator for vehicle information reported by the auto salvage and insurance industry. Through January 31, 2013, when an ADD user reports a vehicle damaged in the recent hurricane and includes “Sandy” anywhere in the vehicle reference field, ADD will donate ten cents of the upload cost to BBF. These donations will be earmarked by the charity for Hurricane Sandy relief effort.

BBF was recently featured in Forbes Magazine as one of five all-star charities in a list of the top 100 U.S. charities, with a 100% rating for fundraising efficiency and charitable commitment. It has received the Better Business Bureau’s “Wise Giving Alliance Standards” seal of approval and was listed as the top development/distribution charity by Consumer Digest.

“We’re confident that contributing these funds to BBF is the best way for our organization to directly assist people in need,” said Taylor. “They’ve already facilitated eight semi-truck loads of disaster relief to Sandy victims, and we know they will direct our donations to where it can do the most good.”

According to Karen Dempsey, VP of development with BBF, the donated funds will help many people in the storm-ravaged area. “We are very grateful for ADD’s commitment to the relief effort. Not only will it help with immediate needs of storm victims, the reporting of these damaged vehicles will help all consumers in the future.”
