TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Oct. 2, 2012 – Auto Data Direct, Inc. (ADD) today announced that more than 1,000 independent California automobile dealers are using its simple and affordable web-based system to comply with a new law. As of July 1, 2012, all California dealers who sell used cars are required to obtain a National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) vehicle history report for every used car on their lot, and post a red warning label on the vehicle if a title brand or salvage history is found.

Effective July 1, 2012, with the passage of House Bill 872 during the 2012 session of the Georgia General Assembly, any business operating as a scrap metal processor, secondary metals recycler, or used motor vehicle parts dealer, must report certain motor vehicle title cancellation and National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) information to the Georgia Department of Revenue.

Florida ELT Deadline Approaches

for Auto Dealers and Financial

The Florida DHSMV has issued an advisory regarding the upcoming requirement for any business that finances vehicles, vessels or mobile homes to electronically transmit liens and lien satisfactions to the department. [Read the DHSMV Advisory. Electronic reporting of lien information will be mandatory on January 1, 2013. Lenders must select an ELT service provider and submit an Application and Notice of Interest in the Electronic Lien and Title Process (HSMV 82150) to that provider in order to be able access the Florida ELT system.
