Auto Data Direct Donates to Brother’s Brother Foundation for Sandy Victims

on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 by Press Release

Tallahassee, FL: Auto Data Direct, Inc. (ADD) announced it has donated $2,500 to the Brother’s Brother Foundation (BBF) Hurricane Sandy relief effort. The donation came in part from National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) reporting fees for vehicles damaged by Hurricane Sandy collected by ADD from junk, salvage, and insurance companies using its web based system.

Federal law requires insurance companies and auto salvage entities to report total loss and salvage vehicles to a national database, where the information is available to the public. According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) in a February 2013 report, over 250,000 vehicles were damaged by the super storm. In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, ADD committed to set aside a portion of their fees through April 2013 earmarked for recovery assistance.

“Our goal was two-fold,” said Jim Taylor, ADD President. “We wanted to encourage the salvage and insurance industries to comply with federal law, and we also wanted to help the victims of that storm by contributing a portion of the reporting fees to BBF, an organization that was effectively assisting Sandy victims. ADD contributes to many worthy causes and we are very pleased to be able to send them a check for $2,500 to help with the ongoing recovery.” ADD is a U.S. Department of Justice approved data consolidator for vehicle information reported by the auto salvage and insurance industry.

BBF was featured in Forbes Magazine as one of five all-star charities in a list of the top 100 U.S. charities, with a 100% rating for fundraising efficiency and charitable commitment. It has received the Better Business Bureau’s “Wise Giving Alliance Standards” seal of approval and was listed as the top development/distribution charity by Consumer Digest.
