North Dakota Electronic Records

Auto Data Direct is the Exclusive Provider for North Dakota's Electronic Vehicle Owner and Lienholder Records

Auto Data Direct, Inc. (ADD) offers an electronic option for businesses to request North Dakota vehicle information, including owner and lienholder records.*

According to the North Dakota Department of Transportation, changes have been made to The Request for Vehicle Information form, SFN 51269, impacting insurance and finance companies, automobile dealers, tow and wrecker companies, recyclers and salvage companies, and others qualified under the DPPA. Effective October 1, 2020, each Request for Vehicle Information form must:

  1. Be mailed - faxes will not be accepted
  2. Include notarized signatures
  3. Include a copy of valid government-issued photo identification
  4. Include form SFN 61787 if paying by credit card

Alternatively, companies relying on vehicle information to run their businesses may create an ADD account, which will allow them to access state records from a simplified and secure online platform. Businesses opting for ADD’s electronic option will be able to:

  • Access real-time records directly from state DMV databases from over 35 jurisdictions, including North Dakota
  • Request records one at a time
  • Conveniently pay state record fees with a pre-paid account
  • Submit all required documentation once during the account creation process, without needing to resubmit business information with each record request
